Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions about NOKILL Pedal Co? We've got answers. If you don't see what you're looking for, hit us up at alex@nokillpedal.co or DM us on Instagram @nokillpedal.co.
What does NOKILL mean? What's the mission behind NOKILL Pedal Co?
NOKILL Pedal Co is a guitar pedal company built on a simple belief: DOGS > HUMANS. Every pedal we make features original dog-inspired artwork, and portions of every sale are donated to animal rescue organizations. We currently support One Tail At A Time WTX (OTAT WTX) and other rescue groups. Our name reflects our commitment to advocating for no-kill shelters and animal rescue. When you buy a NOKILL pedal, you're not just getting a great-sounding piece of gear — you're directly helping rescue dogs find their forever homes.
Where are NOKILL pedals made?
Every NOKILL pedal is handcrafted in Portland, Oregon by founder Alex Brown. Each pedal is hand-soldered, hand-wired, tested, and finished with original artwork before it ships. These are not mass-produced — every unit is built with care from start to finish.
Which animal rescues does NOKILL Pedal Co support?
We donate portions of sales to animal rescue organizations, with a primary focus on One Tail At A Time WTX (OTAT WTX), a rescue organization based in West Texas. Some pedals — like Trinity's Triangle — donate 100% of profits to rescue. We're always looking to expand our partnerships with rescue organizations doing great work.
What power supply do NOKILL pedals need?
All NOKILL pedals run on standard 9V DC center-negative power — the same power used by most guitar pedals on the market. Any standard isolated pedal power supply (like a Truetone CS series, Strymon Zuma, Voodoo Lab Pedal Power, MXR DC Brick, etc.) will work perfectly. No battery compartment is included — a power supply is required. Do not use center-positive or higher-voltage power supplies, as this may damage the pedal.
Are NOKILL pedals true bypass?
Yes. Every NOKILL pedal is true bypass. When the pedal is off, your signal passes through completely unaffected — no tone suck, no signal loss, no coloration. Your guitar tone stays intact when the pedal isn't engaged.
What size are NOKILL pedals?
Most NOKILL pedals use the 125B enclosure, which is a compact, pedalboard-friendly size (approximately 4.7" x 2.6" x 1.6"). Some pedals with more controls — like the Entirely Too Large Dachshund — use the larger 1590BB enclosure (approximately 4.7" x 3.7" x 1.3"). Check each product page for the specific enclosure size.
How long does shipping take? What's the lead time?
Because every pedal is handbuilt to order, please allow approximately 2 weeks for your order to ship. During busy periods or new releases, lead times may be slightly longer. Once your pedal ships, you'll receive tracking information via email. We ship via USPS from Portland, Oregon. Custom etched pedals add about 30 days — see our Custom Orders guide.
Do you ship internationally?
International shipping availability may vary. Please contact us at alex@nokillpedal.co before placing an international order so we can confirm shipping rates and availability to your location. Additional customs fees, duties, and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.
What is your return and exchange policy?
We want you to love your NOKILL pedal. If there's an issue with your order, please reach out to alex@nokillpedal.co within 14 days of receiving your pedal and we'll work with you to make it right. Please note: Custom etched pedals, Custom Dog Woodcuts, Mystery Boxes, and other limited/special items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged. All pedals must be returned in their original condition.
Can you build a custom pedal with my dog on it?
Yes — and now you can add your dog to any pedal we make. Just choose the Custom Dog Etch add-on (+$75) on the pedal you want, and we'll email you after your order to collect a clear photo of your pup. We turn your dog into a custom ink-style illustration etched onto that pedal. Your pedal's enclosure and knob colors stay the same as the original design — only your dog's artwork is added. Custom etching adds about 30 days to the build. Want a matching wall piece? Add the Custom Dog Woodcut — an 8" laser-etched wood round of your pup. Prefer preset boutique circuits with a surprise enclosure and knob combo? The Big Mutt Custom Dog Pedal is still here too. Full details, photo tips, and timing live on our Custom Orders guide.
What kind of pedals does NOKILL make?
NOKILL Pedal Co specializes in fuzz, distortion, and overdrive pedals. Our lineup includes circuits inspired by classics like the Big Muff, ZVex Fuzz Factory, and ZVex Mastotron, as well as original designs. We also offer pedal enclosures for DIY builders and custom one-off pedals featuring artwork of your own dog. Every pedal features original dog-inspired artwork and supports animal rescue. Check out our full lineup on the Effect Pedals page.
Do NOKILL pedals come with a warranty?
Every NOKILL pedal is handbuilt and tested before it leaves the shop. If something goes wrong with the electronics of your pedal, reach out to us at alex@nokillpedal.co and we'll take care of you. We stand behind our builds.
What are the blank enclosures for?
Our powder-coated 125B enclosures are unfinished, blank pedal housings for DIY pedal builders. They come in four finishes — gold, silver, rose gold, and silver-gold — and are ready to be drilled, wired, and built into your own custom pedal. Pair them with your own circuit to create a one-off stompbox without sourcing raw aluminum and finishing it yourself. Great for DIY guitar pedal projects, prototyping, and one-of-a-kind builds.
